The Auvergne has an extremely diverse range of Information Technology businesses and applications: package developers and integrators, 2D and 3D multimedia designers, study and development of man/machine interfaces, search engines and cartographic interfaces, computer security and telecoms, R and D into magnetic systems, etc

Overall there are more than 700 companies working in this sector.

Some are leaders in their field, such as Odyssée Interactive, whose site 'jeuxvideo.com' is one of the best in France, or Numtech, specialising in the modelling of atmospheric phenomena, or Kartoo with its metasearch engine which displays the results in visual interfaces or indeed Prizee.com., a free games web-site.

The Pardieu facility in Clermont-Ferrand, alone employs almost 1000 people.
