RESEARCH AND TRAINING
Blaise Pascal University and the engineering colleges offer courses from undergraduate to post-doctoral level on materials and processes.
With 2 000 researchers in the materials sector, the Auvergne is a recognised centre of expertise, especially in the areas of rubber-elastomer, steel and high performance alloys, as well as in powders, carbonaceous materials and biomaterials.
Publicly funded research is based at Blaise Pascal University, the engineering colleges (CUST*, ENSCCF*, IFMA*, ISIMA*), and institutes such as CEMAGREF*, CNRS*, INRA*, and the Roads and Bridges Engineering Laboratory. Private sector research essentially revolves around the large corporate groups such as AUBERT & DUVAL, MICHELIN, PECHINEY…
The Auvergne has developed technology transfer centres to encourage the use of innovative technologies: GEN’MAT, for surface treatments and process engineering, MECAPROD, specialising in the development of manufacturing products, and CNEP*, a world leader in polymer durability studies.
